The arrival of the 5G planned in 2020 will revolutionize

The 5G, ultra-fast mobile Internet, ignited the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona in late February 2017. The main operators are targeting 2020 for its commercial application. The throughput will be 100 times faster than 4G, which will open up enormous prospects in the field of mobile Internet.

We knew the 3G, the 4G. The 5G arrives and will allow a faster connection to the Internet. This new technology is born of the need to think about how to connect an increasing number of equipment. In 2020, 40 billion devices will be connected to the Internet. It will therefore be necessary to adapt the network to manage all the data exchanged.

The advantages of 5G

5G will be based on cloud computing and smart grids. "You're watching an ultra high definition video called 'K' oven, then you go home ... The network is so smart that it's going to be the same time that your kids play a network game or watch Of content streaming, and will therefore oversize the home network accordingly. This will allow you to continue watching the video you started looking outside, "says Andreas Schmeis, product manager at Deutsche Telecom.

The car of the future connected to the 5G

The consumer experience would therefore be revolutionized with a universe fully connected to this new intelligent network. Intelligent cities but also industry would make use of them. In Barcelona, a French company specialized in 3D imaging explained to RFI how the 5G could help manage the mass of data and allow a much faster and simple management of the urban space. And there is also the automobile, with the famous autonomous cars that should arrive in 2020. But these are all the actual uses that remain to be defined.

China to market 5G ahead of world

China seems to have been part of it, as it has been working on it since 2013. The national giants Huawei and ZTE are currently conducting Beijing's largest experimental 5G network in the world. Korea Telecom hopes to be able to offer it to consumers at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games in South Korea in 2018. On the European side, Orange and Ericsson are testing a similar technology in the laboratory. Everyone positions his pawns, because it is such a transformation that the commercial stakes are potentially immense. We are talking about half a billion subscriptions to 5G by 2022, 1 trillion euros worldwide.
